The landscape underwent a comprehensive renovation that aimed not only to enhance its aesthetic appeal but also to improve its functionality and overall happiness quotient significantly. During this transformation, three cherished structures were meticulously preserved, revitalized, and strategically repositioned to optimize their roles within the new landscape design.
Central to the renovation was the seamless reintegration of the pool, pool house, and tennis court into the surrounding environment. This was achieved through strategically installing lawn treads, thoughtfully designed retaining walls, and strategically planting large Caliper trees. The addition of allees lined with Crape Myrtle and London Plane trees not only added a sense of elegance and structure but also created inviting pathways that complemented the site’s natural beauty.
Special attention was dedicated to the site’s architectural slope, ensuring that it was not only functional but also artistically enhanced. This architectural feature served as a dramatic backdrop for the display of prized sculptures, including David Smith’s iconic Voltri. The sculpture was strategically placed at the terminus of a stunning allee, creating a compelling visual journey for visitors.
Furthermore, the placement of Jenny Holzer’s thought-provoking Truisms Bench, Botero’s timeless Donna Sdraiata, and an untitled Joel Shapiro sculpture was meticulously planned to allow each artwork ample space to be appreciated in its own right. Careful consideration was given to their positioning within the landscape, ensuring they were harmoniously integrated into their surroundings while commanding attention as focal points of artistic expression.
In essence, the landscape renovation project not only revitalized the physical elements of the property but also enriched its emotional and aesthetic appeal. By blending functional enhancements with artistic vision, the redesigned space now offers a harmonious balance between natural beauty, architectural elegance, and the timeless allure of sculpture.
